No Horseback Riding And No Dogs Allowed On School Grounds

I came across this sign at our school and the wood is badly weathered and the paint is peeling. I’m assuming that at one time this sign was hanging in the playground area and it informed people that there was no horseback riding or dogs allowed on the school grounds. It made me think how much the community has changed over the years. Our school is over 50 years old and many years ago people who lived in this area were probably able to keep horses. Today it’s a suburb and part of a city where many people commute to work. There is no longer the open space needed to raise and ride horses. I was wondering if any of the parents or grandparents who grew up in this area remember this sign? Did it hang on the school playground area at one time? I’m sure my students would be really interested to know more about this sign and its history at our school. Anything you could teach us about this sign would be appreciated.

Wonderwall – Hurricane Sandy

Hurricane Sandy hit the Eastern United States at the end of October 2012 and it’s estimated that it did 20 billion dollars in damage. When the storm surge came ashore in New York it flooded streets, tunnels, subway lines and cut power to businesses and homes. Many interesting images have been taken in and around New York following the hurricane like the one below. What are your thoughts, ideas or any questions that you might have? Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment.

Wonderwall

The space shuttle Endeavour completed 25 missions into space and orbited the Earth 4,671 times. The time-lapse video below shows the final journey of the Endeavour to it’s new home in Inglewood, California. A really amazing video and worth two minutes and fourty four seconds of your time.
